Default Oil

Ok guys i know there are a lot of threads about the synthetic oils and what not, if looked at alot of them. My questions are simple right now im using the castrol gtx high mileage, ive been using it for about 4-5 oil changes and havent had a problem. I just want to switch to synthetic oil. I've been googling alot and ive been on bobistheoilguy.com but i heard rumors that mobil 1 switched there formula or something so now its not a true synthetic or some crap like that. So which is better mobil 1 or Pennzoil full sythetics? Also right now im using a K&N oil filter because it's got the nut on the top make it easier to take it off in my garage, if i switch to synthetic can i still use a K&N filter or should i switch to lets say a mobil 1 filter or something?

Thanks

I would never use any kind of Pennzoil (SLUDGE MAKER)

Personally if I would go synthethic, I would go Amsoil all the way. Got several motors, transmissions, and a few othertoyswith it already. Always starts even on coldest days. Less repairs needed over long time use, cleaner engine (see that when you change Plugs, oil filters and oil), Gaskets dont go to crap as fast, and a pick of 7500 or 25,000 change options. But that is just my 2 cents on the subject.

I wonder how old that opinion of Pennzoil is... The new Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic oil is a very good oil.

Mobil 1 EP and Pennzoil Platinum are both good oils. I am going to be trying PP at my next change in the Rainier. I have been using M1 for awhile now though.

I use PP and have no problems at all with it. I usually pair it up with a fram filter. I would suggest it

i have noticed that in any vehicle that we put synthetic in it seems to have lower oil pressure. only a couple pounds lower but it does drop ??

Default RE: Oil

I don't believe that it is necessarily because the oil is synthetic. Each oil grade has a viscosity range that is permitted for that weight. The brand(s) of synthetics you have used probably are falling inthe lower end of the permitted range for the weight. Lower viscosity will equal lower pressure. Nothing to worry about.
