Old Fuel Pump Finally Died

My 98 Blazer always ran and started very well. However, I became concerned that the pump always seemed to be running steady in recent months.
I meant to get a pressure test done but then I was too late.
The vehicle would always run after starting but it failed to start the other day in a parking lot as there was no fuel and the pump would not start up at all. I tried everything to avoid a tow fee but no dice. I reversed the horn relay for the fuel pump relay(identical) and the horn still worked. I hunted high and low for a fuel pump fuse and there was none to be found.
Another post referred to a extra wire that one could tap into with a fused line direct from the battery. He said it could be found on the fire wall, right hand side, and it was there in case a low oil pressure shut down feature was wanting to override the fuel pump, thinking the vehicle was in an accident. I would love to bypass that circuit and take my chances in an accident situation. Did he mean drivers side for this wire?? I cannot find the grey wire mentioned.
There are over 200,000 kms on this truck and I am wanting to replace the fuel pump any way, for piece of mind.
My concern is,...... will there be power there for the new pump and will it work?
I have by passed a rusty looking ground strap from the tank but still,.... no pump motor will run.
Is the relay acting as a fuse? Why no fuel pump fuse on these crazy vehicles??

Thanks,
Ken S.
