Options for new Catalytic Convertor (Universal)

03 Blazer needs a new catalytic converter. I've grown tired of putting money into this thing, but I'd still like to keep it on the road. Emissions will be due in two months so I need to do something. Anyone had luck with Universal cats vs oem Y-pipe? I'm not sure what type of cat I need either. I think from the emissions sticker I have CA emissions, even though I don't live there. Will I still need to get a CA catalytic convertor? On rock auto there are several options for y-pipes. Some say federal and California emissions, some say CARB compliant. The CARB compliant are way more expensive than the California emissions options.

That's a good question. If you replace a cat in California on a 49-state vehicle, the replacement has to be CARB-certified. But I doubt it works the other way. Your best bet would be to ask the inspector at the station you're going to eventually take it to.
