P0059 related to EVAP?
 

2005, 2DR, 2WD, 4.3 Vortex, Base model


Have had P0059 for longest time.

Was told its most likely my catilytic converter is bad, which i believed because i had a high flow cat and there was nothing else it seemed it could be after ruling out all the obvious (wires, fuse, ect...)

Put stock front and rear cats on last week and P0059 came back. I ordered 3 ACDelco oxygen sensors that should be here friday. but when i used my scanner today i noticed all systems are READY except EVAP (my understanding is that EVAP takes the longest so it might not be ready as codes were erased sunday for something else). BUT.....

EVAP is fuel/emissions......couple years ago my gas tank cracked and i had to replace it with 04 LS edition. which is 1 year older and different style. The only difference on the tank was that the canister had nowhere to plug to the gas tank so i blocked it off.

could someone explain how the CEL is throwing P0059 but EVAP is the only system not ready?

Im not gonna jump all over the evap not being ready since its only been a few days but if my scannner says oxygen sensors ready will it mean that the system is done checking and P0059 is what was found? or could the code be evap related?

The oxygen sensor monitor has run and completed its test and P0059 was set. The PCM detected a problem with bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor heater circuit, not necessarily the sensor, but it could be. The sensor is located upstream of the converter, on the passenger side, close to the exhaust manifold.

You need to complete steps 2 through 6 of the General Motors Driving Cycle for the EVAP monitor to run and complete its tests. You don't need to do them in order, but all 5 steps must be completed. Each step must be performed exactly as written for the monitor to run and complete.

I can't seem to figure out why it's coming up. Ill try to get ahold of a volt meter tomorrow and test it out. That's about the only thing I haven't done.
