plastic fuel tank

does anyone know what the differance was between the plastic fuel tank and the steel one in a 98 blazer? besides the material their made of lol. is the sending unit different of just the lock ring or what?

dont quote me on this its been a while, but when i went to replace my plastic tank with a steel one. the lock ring on the sending unit was different, also i wasn't able to get the breather valve on the front to fit into the steel one. so i ended up having to returning that and getting a used plastic one from the junk yard just so both the sending unit and breather would fit.

just for future referance, you can put a plastic tank in place of a steel one with no problems as long as you have the proper sending unit to go with it. In fact in my 98 blazer i put a tank out of a 2000 with a sending unit out of a 2dr 05 blazer. The 2dr sending unit was different than the 4dr but it still fit in the tank and works fine, the lines all hooked up fine aswell as the electrical connections
