95 4dr blazer 4.3 vortec
I left my house the other day after the truck was sitting for about 2 hours. When I tried to accel it sputtered, died, and I heard a loud noise coming from the back like it backfired.
I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I'm thinking it is the fuel pressure regulator, but before I replace it I want to make sure there is nothing else I can do to make sure it is that.
I checked the pressure and it holds steady at 60. I can also hear the fuel pump working.
It smells a lot like gas when I'm trying to start it. I'm thinking it is dumping too much gas into it.
I read some of the posts here with the same type of problem and in one someone suggested trying to switch to 2 things in the glove box around.
Should I bother with that or just replace the fuel pressure regulator? I'm inexperienced when it comes to engines, so I don't want to do anything I don't have to.
After I changed the plugs and wires it backfired and literally blew my muffler off
Which I had to fix. Then, I replaced the rotor and cap and has'nt backfired again. It just sounds like it is about to start, but doesn't.
Is there anything I can do to check to see if it is indeed the fuel pressure regulator before I spend the money on that and the gasket?
Thanks for your time
