Question about Catalytic Converter
I have a 2005 GMC Envoy XL with a V6. I have to replace my catalytic converter. I know that certain parts of a 2000 Chevy Blazer are interchangeable with my truck but I was wondering if anything around a 96 to a 99 Chevy Blazer was interchangeable with it also. Especially the catalytic converter. Would that be interchangeable also?

You can go to rockauto.com and look up part numbers for related vehicles and see where you have a match.

The 2005 Envoy XL (GMT370 platform) came with either the 4.2L inline 6 cylinder engine or the 5.3L v8 engine.
I am not sure what you are referring to in regards to things that you know cross over between a 2000 Blazer and your vehicle. There will be very little that crosses over between the s-series trucks and the GMT360/GMT370 platform vehicles and by very little I'm talking about nut and bolt type stuff... 2002+ Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainier/etc sure, but not the s-series trucks/suvs. As far as which catalytic converter you need, there is a difference between the XL and the shorter length models when it comes to the mid-pipe that has the catalytic converter in it. That only is a concern if you were looking for a bolt in installation. There are several direct fit options available on the RockAuto.com website that George referred to and they are all in the mid to high $200 range before shipping & taxes. Your local auto parts store may also be an option to compare as well. The next question would be why your converter has failed...? |
Also, consider that the investment in labor and welding may not make sense installing a cat of unknown quality and remaining life. That said many after market cats are not up to oem quality levels.
