Question Question on abs light??

On my 98 Blazer 4x4 I have had an ABS light ON from time to time. I have replaced the sensors & it still comes on then off, but recently it seems to be on more than off.
So I stopped by a Brake Shop today to ask about it. The Service Manager told me this is a common complaint with the Blazers. He said if the sensors are new then most likely the problem is a relay. He said the relay on my generation ABS system is inside the modular which means replacing the whole unit, which is expensive. He said later years the relays are outside the unit & are a much cheaper fix.
Can someone give me some insight on this? Does this sound correct?
Thanks,

Get the codes read to see what is triggering the light before jumping to conclusions. One of your brand new sensors could have too large of an air gap that just needs to be adjusted as described in the tech article.

Thanks Kyle,
There are codes for the ABS? That must take a special reader? So I need to find a shop that has that tool? It was off for several months & it just started staying mostly on the last several days. I never had any issues with my 97 Blazer & ABS lights. This one has had this since I bought it.
Thanks Again

Thanks for that info. I fixed it with a piece of black tape over the light. The brakes work just fine & I have to cut my losses on this Blazer. I'm just going to drive it into the ground to get back some of the TOO MUCH money I have in it. I'm looking for another vehicle. This one isn't staying in my stable long term.

Default Do a quick check first.

I had a similar problem. Got code 68(I think) Open/short motor control relay.
I pulled the front cover off of the Kelsey/Hayes 4wal unit and looked at the circuit board. In my case the solder connection on the motherboard broke from the relay and thus no contact. Resoldered the connection and KAPOW!!
working ABS system. It may be possible to replace the relay if that is indeed the problem.

If you lived in my area I could hook up my Tech 1 scanner and diagnose your problem.
