quick tip - popping multi port spider injectors (newer style) out of manifold

I'm sure there's other methods out there, but I pulled my manifold apart today and discovered an easy way that requires no special tools at all. Well, the only "special tool" is a bolt and nut that holds the throttle body to the upper manifold ;)
The one of the front two bolts that holds the throttle body on, with the extra nut on it that holds the bracket for the throttle cable. Take the nut and thread it a little onto the longer threaded end of the bolt. https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1399423488 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1399423488 Now just take that end and place it into the plastic nozzle in the intake runner. Make sure the threaded on nut buts up to the nozzle flat. Also make sure that you don't thread the nut on so far so that the bolt contacts the injector. All you want to do is have the nut but up flatly against the plastic nozzle. https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1399423488 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1399423488 Now using something like a ratchet or large wrench, give the bolt a few firm taps. It doesn't take much (you don't need to use anything like a hammer...), the injector will pop out and come out the top side of the manifold. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...506_180544.jpg |
Great tip..no pun intended there. I was not able to get these out when I did the LIM gasket change about a year ago. I was fearful of breaking the injector nozzle so did not try anything like this.
What is the locking mechanism the holds each injector nozzle in the intake anyways? |

all that holds it in is 3 small protrusions around the injector

I hate to bump an old thread, but I actually broke one of the plastic tips while removing the MPFI assembly. Does anyone have any extra they could sell me? I realize it would hardly be worth your time for its worth, but it would greatly help me out.
