Random stalls..

My 97 has began doing some strange things, mostly after it rains. It will hesitate real bad before shifting until the motor is completely warmed up (Im thinking its moisture in the distributer cap) but the main issue its having now is it will just die out while driving then immediately revive. When this happens, if i am accelerating, its like it went into neutral, the rpms will rev up and the radio will still be on, but the dash lights will blink off then back on. The only way I know this happens is when I see my RPMS rev and then i see my airbag light blinking. Sorta like it hiccups.

The other thing it does is it will completely stall out, no indication of it about to stall out either. No rough or chugging or anything, it just stalls and when it does its usually at a stop light or sitting waiting on traffic to get past so i can go. A couple days ago, it did it as i began accelerating from a stop sign, trying to turn the corner. It stalled out and I almost got slammed by a semi because i wasn't fully turned yet.

Could my TPS or MAP be causing this? I checked my vaccum lines and replaced the only bad line that I found which lead from a t-fitting to the charcoal canister on the hood. I need to make a trip up to warren this weekend for court but im fearful of it if this isn't solved. Please Help.

Went to check the radiator and oil/trans fluids this morning and there it was; the radiator is empty (It was full lastnight before i went to bed), the oil was milky/creamy colored like coffee with to much cream. Blown Head Gasket or Blown Intake Manifold Gasket. :icon_doh: So if anyone else is having missing radiator fluid with no leaks or choppy hesitation after it rains, youre best bet would be to change your plugs then if it still happens, youre head gaskets/intake gaskets are junk. Too bad its not a quick 5 minute fix. Cheap, but not quick. Did a price check on the gaskets; both heads and intake and thats only going to be around $40-$50. But word of advice, when you do this, make sure to change your oil and filter as well as flushing your entire motor to get the oil/coolant mixture out of it before you damage it further.

Oh and side note; my oil was clean from the time i changed it (2 weeks ago) up to this morning. The only indication that something was wrong was the random stalling and hesitation when accellerating.

Damn, that sucks. I would think that the LIM gasket is to blame. A compression test could be done to confirm the integrity of the head gaskets.

It was my intake manifold gasket. What im thinking is that it was running off of 5 cylinders instead of six, due to the random misfire, after i changed the plugs again all 6 were firing and that extra burst blew out the gasket. 4 days, 2 busted and nearly broken hands, one day pay loss from work and $150 later ALL the gaskets were changed. UIM, LIM, Heads, distributer, exhaust, valves and valve covers all new gaskets/gromets. Everythings all cleaned up and shiny, well as shiny as a black motor can be :icon_wink: only bad thing about it is, I still don't have my blazer and during the process of putting everything back together i severed my temperature switch wire but that's a way easy fix and very cheap. I had to leave it at my brothers in warren wednesday and return to home to go back to work. The good thing is, I now know the extent of how to rebuild the top end of the motor. Not something I want to do again lol

Another good thing is from what i heard and from what my brother told me is it runs like brand new now, with a little bit of residue smoke due to that gunk getting on my exhaust manifolds. So im really excited to get it back now. Just gotta get a day to go get it.
