Rear Brakes installation

Hey guys,

i was wondering if anyone has changed thier rear drum brakes on thier blazer themselves, I was wondering how difficult it is to do and if anyone has a write-up on how to do it! I am hoping to try and do it on a saturday afternoon or make it a weeekend project.

thanks

It is not all that difficult with the right tools. Most autoparts stores carry a drum brake tool kit. Without some of these tools, it can be pretty frustrating trying to get all of the linkages and springs back in place.

The first thing you need to do once you get the drum off is take a picture of how everything goes together. This is very important because once it is all apart on the floor, it becomes a jigsaw puzzle.

Clean everything REALLY well. If you can swing it, get the hardware kit (springs, washers, etc) for both sides. Take your time and be careful putting it back together. The springs are strong and you can damage yourself if you are not careful with how you are pulling on them.
