Rear Hatch Problem: The Solution

Buy a new vehicle...jk...ok...start by getting a helper...this makes it much easier and you will have 2 hands free. Get in the back of the Blazer and lift the handle and take the two screws out that are holding the handle on. This will give you more accessibility saying youll be able to pull the panel back further. Take a clothes hanger and make a small L shape with the end...no longer than 1/2 inch. The longer the end is...the more flimsy it becomes. About
1 - 1 1/2" up, make a slight bend in this bending it in the direction the point is facing. Next, get a small mirror and find this part in the pictures below...have your helper pull back the top middle of the panel about 2 inches...u will have probably broken a screw at the top of it...but it doesnt rattle or anything...so i figure it all good. Use a mirror and flashlight to your advantage while finding this lever. It is near the top and in the very back, (towards the front of the truck). Get your clothes hanger "masterpiece" and use the mirror to help guide the hanger to the TOP of this lever. Once you get this L shape ON TOP of the arm...Push DOWN fairly hard. It may take a few tries...but it WORKS...with NO CREATING HOLES!!! Hope this helps. Maybe they should have a recall on those stupid plastic things. Heres the pics.

From then, you can access the screws on the side of the panel. Take those out and theres clips scatter throughout the middle of the panel...so just lift straight up in the general area of where they are. after you get if off, you will see sortof another panel with lots of bolt screw type things all around it. Take those out and any little slip on the panel...you'll see what I mean as soon as you get in. You will see a blue clip that has broke off. I might try and post pics of a lil homemade device that I used to replace the cheap plastic.

Thank you magnum434, I got the window open. Here's what irritates me about the whole thing. I went to the dealer to get the little blue plastic linkage that broke and they only sell the entire acctuator assembly for $80.00. What a ripoff!

RE: Rear Hatch Problem: The Solution

Just my 2 cents..... The plastic part that breaks costs $5 (pack of 2) at your local Kragens Auto Parts store (might be called something else depending where you live) Its part # 42426 from Dorman Products. Oh yeah and the best part NO Shipping cost it arrives in 2 days. I followed Magnum434's thread and got my window open. Thanks Magnum434.
