Rear Tailight

Hey Gang,
Looking for help...I have a 2000 LT, the problem I'm having is the drivers side rear tail light. The brake lightisn't working except: when either the right or lefthand directional is on; or you apply pressure to the directional arm inside the truck. There appears to be some sort of short in the steering column, any suggestions any ideas...

Thanks

First thing I would check is the taillight itself. Plus make sure all your bulbs work. A burnt out bulb can do strange things.

Did that, all lamps not only are good but have been replaced. Like I said it works fine if you push on the directional arm inside the truck.

Sounds like you've answered your own question. If everything works just by pushing in on the multifunction stalk, then you mostlikely have something broken inside the multifunction switch. First place to check is the 4way switch which is replaceable and has been discussed before.

Wait "jetrider"

Stop!!! (light, haha) Before you do anything else, I had the EXACTSAME PROBLEM (even the pushing on the turn signal switch thing) with my 99 LT, I bought a new turn signal switch and brakelight switch. Luckily before I spent hours replacing the $100.00+ turn signal switch, I replaced the $9.00 brakelight switch. The brakelight switch was the only problem, my brake lights have worked every time since then for months. I am sure you have the same problem, so don't waste any more time, of course, one more thing, make sure your electrical connections are clean and corosion free. A bad connection could pose the same symptoms.

I really hope this helps, I was lucky to have figured out my problem before it got too expensive. When I did mine, nobody on other blazerand S-10 sites had a clue and just kept telling me to replace the expensive turn signal switch.
