Rear washer fluid hose leak - Carpet padding soaked
 

Well I can't believe this. I opened the back door and felt the carpet was cold. I took the plastic panel off and felt the carpet padding was soaked and the washer fluid was dripping out of the hose from a leak I cannot really see. I made sure the washer fluid was lower than the rear washer pump and I used an air compressor to blow all the fluid out of the line so I can stop it from leaking further. I tried to soak up the fluid from the padding but it was soaked beyond all belief. What alarms me is that there is a wire bundle right next to the tubing. I tried pulling the tubing fitting, but it was too tight to pull and it is dripping from there. I also didn't have the Torx socket to pull the tie down hook. How do I totally disable the rear washer pump so that hose stays dry until the carpeting can dry? How do I fix this so it stops leaking completely? Do I just cut out the leaking section and replace it with rubber tubing and hose clamps? Everything still seems like it is working, but should I be concerned about the wiring? Insulation seems like new.

Mine had the same problem where those wires are, I cut the plastic line with a razor blade and then put a piece of vacuum tubing on the lines and bam fixed the leak.

I had the same problem too. There's a joint near the back where it goes into the floor and then into the tailgate, which is where mine was leaking because the joint had separated a bit. I took out the rubber joiner, and replaced it with a longer piece of vacuum tube, similar to what 2002Xtreme did. I couldn't find a hose clamp small enough, so I took zip-ties and tightened them on the joints to keep it from pulling back again. So far its been solid for about 8 months.

I also had that issue & did as stated above. Just use vacuum hose. I never used any clamp or zip tie. The vacuum hose fit snug enough. In my case I had another leak in the tail gate so I had a few repairs. I would say pretty common issue. Nothing serious. The carpet will dry.
Just disconnect the hose from the washer pump at the washer tank under the hood. There should be two pumps one for front & one for back.

Alright thanks for all the tips. I got some spare vac line from when I did the vacuum lines, so I can use that. So I don't need hose clamps? I think I did a similar repair under the hood and used zip ties where a section of hose split so I cut it out and put vac hose in it's place, but I didn't think I could use the same repair for under the carpeting. I just need to get a Torx socket to take that hook out so I have more room to work.

Fixed. I cut out the whole section that was damaged and another inch of plastic tube. I put the rubber tube in and used the inch of plastic tube to connect it to the elbow. I used 3 hose clamps and I tightened them as tight as I dared. No leaks so far and I covered the back door in orange fluid. After I took the attached photo, I wrapped the single clamp that is under the plastic duct with electrical tape and the other two in duct tape. The carpet is still wet, but I managed to dry around the wiring at least.

yeah i guess it is a common problem because my hose was broke too and my carpet was soaked but i fixed the line so hopefully the carpet will dry now

Where does the carpet get soaked? Where does the rear washer hose get routed?

This old thread is talking about the hose for the rear washer fluid separating right underneath the carpet trim in the cargo area by the tailgate. Computernerd above posted a picture of the repaired connector.
