Replaced signal switch...now airbag and abs lights on dash won't go off...

Howdy...

Just as the title reads. I replaced my turn signal hazard switch today in my 1997 Blazer and it works just fine. Problem is now the AIRBAG and the ABS lights came on upon start up and won't turn themselves off. I replaced the ABS sensors a couple months ago and neither lights came on before I took the airbag out and steering wheel off to replace the signal switch. Everything else is working as it should...but these lights on my dash are irritating me since I like my dash clear of check lights and this and that.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Obliged.

if the SIR light is on that means one or both airbags are nonfunctional, did you pull the battery out and wait half an hour/turn the key to start before removing the airbag? its possible something is damaged either a connector not hooked in right or other. connector is easy to check because you can pull the airbag in a few seconds.

I did disconnect the negative from the battery and although I didn't time it I'm pretty sure it was longer than 30 minutes from me researching on how to pull the airbag and steering wheel off. No I didn't have the key in the run position. I extra precise when doing any work and know the connector went back the way it came out, wires and all. I'll pull it apart again later and look. Easier now that I know how to do it. Still doesn't explain why my ABS light came on when I didn't touch anything ABS related.

I managed to get the ABS and Airbag lights off. I just unplugged negative from the battery and left the ignition and the headlights in the on position. To reset everything and make sure everything is diacharged.

Left it that way for a little over three hours while I was doing other electrical things then connected the battery back, took him for a 30 minute drive on freeway and backstreets and he works just fine now.

I also checked the wiring in case I missed something or for damaged wires but nothing. All is well.
