running rich

ok i still have a random misfire but i have learned that if it sits for about two days it will start right up like the gas has to evaporate if i try to start it the next day it takes for ever to start i can also smell gas a little outside of it and the exhaust is wet especially when first started any ideas will be appriciated.

RE: running rich

Sounds like a fuel leak in the upper intake. Fuel pressure regulator, spider fuel distribution block, poppet valve stuck open or leaking fuel line...depending on the model year will depend on what parts are involved...

The best way to test for an internal fuel leak is to use a fuel pump pressure tester. Run the engine with the tester installed, then shut off the engine and watch the guage. It should hold residual pressure. If it drops to a very low pressure in a short period of time, it has an internal leak.
