I opened my hood when it was dark out and reved the engine, I noticed a small blue ark at the side of the coil, Is this a normal thing or should I replace the coil? Thanks for any advice in advance...Lorne

Coil itself, like the side casing of it? or the wire that goes to it, if its the first one then I would replace it, if its the second just change the wire from the coil to distrubutor

Is the coil cracked or broken? Try cleaning any dirt and grime off of the coil and check the coil wire to be seated correctly and the insulating boot to be in good condition. Otherwise, yea,I guess I would replace the coil too.

It is definitely not normal for arcing from any of the ignition components. It definitely sounds like your coil housing is cracked.

While you are at it, take a small spray bottle with some clean water in it and mist down the rest of the system. Replace anything that has arcs jumping out of it.
