Default spare tire hoist

Anybody know where I can get a new spare tire hoist assy. for my son's 98 4wd Blazer LS 4 door, cheap? I tried a local Chevy dealer but they want $161.00 for new part.

Try the boneyards (salvage) should be much less than the $130 for new.

you are looking at probably $20 and a bandaid or less at a u-pull it style salvage yard.

I lifted the plastic bumper cover and drilled a 3/4" hole thru the bumper. I got lucky and hit it dead center. my socket od measures 11/16". once the cover is back on the hole is not visible..

Default Finally ordered part

OK, so I finally ordered the spare tire hoist assy from GM Partsdirect.com for 121.98 which included the shipping. I will try to snap a few pics while I replace the thing. Gonna try to remove the rear bumper to acces the one blind nut. Gonna soak the existing hardware/fasteners with 50/50 acetone/automatic tranny fluid mix to help break up some rust/grime while I wait for the part. Will let y'all know how I make out.

If your current one is messed up & will not drop, you may have to cut the cable that holds the rim up under the truck just below the metal bracket that actually supports the rim.
