Smile Spark plug wires????

When I bought my 97 Blazer 4x4 two years ago. I installed a new set of plugs & Belden plug wires. (7mm silicone)
I had 87,000 miles on it then, I now have 151,000 miles.
Anyway, I have burned two wires in this time & mileage span. Number 1 & just recently #3.
I would get a random miss fire code. One of these wires burned off inside the boot. The end burned off. On this last one it burned just above the boot.
When I replaced these & was very careful to route them just like the OEM wires were. used all the OEM plastic holders. I have seen Chevys burn wires with headers on them but never an all stock vehicle, Except for a Magnaflow Cat & muffler.
Has anyone else had this misfortune? If so what did you do to solve this problem?
One thought I had was to drill holes in the hood on the edges & put on a small scoop. Something like my 98 Jeep GC 5.9 Limited hood. The scoops on these vehicles do exactly that let hot air out from under the hood.
