Default stalling and code

ive been off roading a lil bit and i flooded my engine twice. it was acting kinda slugges for a while but the water burned up i guess and it was fine. but last week i went again didnt flooded it that time. and now it threw a code forgot what it was but it had to do with the mass air flow sensor. well i went to autozone and he told me just to dissconnet my batter to clear it and see if it comes back. i went to go clean out my car and i dissconneted my batter while i did that. thene after i put it back on i started my car. started up fine and everything. put it in drive and gave it a little gas then as soon as i let off it died down. if it stayed in park it idled fine but whene i gave it gass in drive with the break applied it would die down i let it idle for a bit and then drove it around to the parking lot and it didnt die. so i was just wondring whats up with it was it just a fluke or what any help plese very much appreceated

I'd recommend removing and cleaning the MAF sensor. Run a search on 'MAF Cleaning' and you should find the proper procedure.

If that doesn't work, then you may be looking at replacing the MAF sensor which isn't cheap!

How did you clean it? To clean the MAF properly, it must be removed from the intake ductwork and disassembled. It isn't something that should be done in a parking lot, but could be. It takes some care when cleaning the elements of the MAF sensor.

If you left power off the ECM long enough to reset it, then it might run bad for a little while until it "relearns". (official uneducated description!) Happened to my buddys ZR2 when we were installing his stereo all nite with the batt unhooked. Hope this is all you need too. - Mike
