I haven't had to change one on mine, however most vehicles the starter is located towards the rear of the engine near the flywheel. Simply remove the electrical connections and mounting bolts and replace it with the new one.

Not sooooo easy on our trucks.
I find it easiest to
Disconnect the battery, negative and then positive.
Take off the passengers side tire, leave truckon a jack stand.
Take the two starter bolts out.
Disconnect the starter wires through the wheel well. Real pain in the butt.
Once the starter is free of bolts and wires, now comes the fun part. You have to turn it just right to get the starter between the engine, frame, exhaust, and out. Nose cone out first, twist the starter and lift the back end up. Kind of like a nose dive on its side. There is like 2mm of space, but it will slide out.
Option 2. Pull out the motor mount and jack the engine up 1/2".

I got pictures of it on my camera, however I loaned my camera to a friendso he could takes pics while on vacation.

Im not sure on the newer Blazers but on mine all I have to do is remove the bottom piece of thebellhousing which makes changing the starter so easy. Ive changed 2 starters in mine and the second time it took me about 1/2 an hour.

IIRC, the '98+ transmissions have a full shroud, ie, no dush shield. That and the oil pan is a structural member as well makes for a pain to remove the starter. But I may be off on the year...
