Starting the blazer
ok, I've had this problem since I bought the blazer....
If I go to start it in the morning it starts fine. When I go to start it when it is hot, first shot no start, second shot it starts and I smell unburned gas for like 3 seconds... There is NO hesitation, it idles fine, actually it's so smooth it seems like the engine isn't on... and it has great pickup. it seems like my first shot starting is different than other, backwards in fact. I did searches but it seems like the first shot no start follows rough idle and hesitation which mine does not have. when I replaced the plugs I noticed they were clean they weren't black sooty the electrodes were a little orange but not really but they were all even none were worst than the other... I put in marvel mystry oil in the gas ones a month to give the fuel pump a little bit more lubercation, when I first bought the blazer the fuel gauge used to bounce around and get stuck, not anymore even when I get to 1/4 tank it reads pretty accurate it doesn't bounce. So what could it be? Thanks Jim |

By "first time, no start", what is it doing exactly... Does it turn over and just not fire? Or does it not even turn over?

what is this fuel pump lube????
im getting first 1-2 cranks no fire up but shes been sitting since feb 2010...so its been a while. i didnt properly store it, i left the tank mostly empty and just parked it outside. also im on original plugs with 180-190km... ya ya i know i know but lately it just feels like this thing isnt even worth the maintenance it needs. |

Then I come out of the store, unlock the door, put the key in, turn the key it doesn't start then turn it again it starts. it is still hot at that point being in florida, I don't know EXACTLY what the temp of the engine is.... |
You haven't answered the question I asked... Please clarify whether "start" means:

Could be the starter, ignition switch, or the wiring between the two. I would lean towards the ignition switch being the problem. You can read about the ignition switch from the link in my signature.

I have a 97 blazer that has the same issues. I just put a new fuel pump in it about a month ago and actually haven't driven it too much since then. But I've still had the same problems after the pump replacement. I continue to search for some direction in this forum. I actually asked for HELP before replacing but got NO replies. Oh well. Anyway I am wondering if it is starting fine when cold but then hard-starting when warm how can this be related to the ignition switch? Would'nt you have the issues regardless of temperature.
Thoughts? |
The ignition switch really shouldn't be affected by the vehicle being up to operating temperature. I would look into the ignition system (coil, ICM, etc) for a hard start when hot issue.
