Strange 4wd issue
Hey guys I'm here to bother you guys again. Ill list what all I have done and what kind of vehicle
98 Blazer LT 4x4 94,000 mi NP-233 T Case
New:
Cv's
Hub Bearings
Ball Joints (upper and lower)
Rotors, Calipers, Pads all 4 corners
U-Joints front and rear
Input and Output seal on T Case
So I bought the truck last year and if it wasn't freezing below zero I would have got to check it out a little better and probably wouldnt have bought it. Regardless, I just recently got the 4wd working, found it was the T Case vaccum switch. Prior to that the 4wd never worked for me. After getting it to work I switched it on at a stop sign and was going to see how it functioned for the up coming crap weather in ohio. In 4 hi I got to about 15 mph and there was a terrible whining coming from the passenger front and almost seemed like it was in 4 lo instead. I got home and decided to check the T Case fluid and got surprised by a couple quarts too much flying out and all over my drive way. So thats what made me change the input and output seals. I was hoping with a fresh fluid change the 4wd would work better but it didnt. Any ideas? The truck was owned by 1 old man its entire existence until me last year. Im getting tired of replacing parts, so can someone help me pinpoint it before I burn it to the ground. Thanks

when the 4wd is engaged you should hear a whining noise since the shafts turning
if you engaged 4 hi it should be 4hi
Id engage 4lo try it then engage 4hi and see the difference
there should be a difference in how the trans takes off

Ill try it out tomorrow. I dont think its geared down low like it would be in 4 lo but the noise it makes reminds me of 4 lo, know what I mean? Like when I release the gas it almost sounds like a power wheel when my kid lets off it. That high whining noise. I guess its harder to explain than I thought also when I go to switch it back to 2wd it still makes the noise for a brief second. Could it be the front diff or T Case?

sometimes the truck has to drive a few feet for the 4wd to fully disengage

Well 4 lo nets the same outcome. Loud whining/humming noise from front

I have an 04 s-10 blazer and the 4wd drive will engae with no problems but it doesnt want to disengage. When it does disengage there is a loud pop from the transmission. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
