to take off or not to take off!

Question, does one need to remove the steering wheel to replace a ignition lock cylinder on a 1995 blazer, 4x4 automatic??????

yeah. think you need to remove or at least move the turn signal mechanism in there too. i did one like 8 years ago. it comes out the side but theres a screw that holds it in place you have to get at

on my 02 all I had to do was remove the steering column covers and I got it to pop right off. I didn't have to remove the steering wheel.

Check this out; A reminder that there are places out there that want to rip you off.
I got my lock cylinder in (should have put it in when the ignition switch was installed)Did it myself; took about a half hour, without taking the steering wheel off.
The place I called, said it would take 2 hours labor, plus 30.00 for the part(a total of 190.00). I payed 16.00 for the part, and like I said, it took approx. a half hour to take it out and another 20 min. to put everything back in place. I'm going back and have a talk with the owner of this shop here in thornton,co.Have him verify his so-called labor charge.
