Default thermostat question

Well I've never had troubles with my blazer. Just normal wear here and there. I haven't had much heat this winter if any at all. I know it could be as simple as a flush all the way up to a core replacement.

My truck normally runs at like the first notch on the temp gauge, I think its 160? Now its running under it and hardly warms up even after driving 40 minutes straight to class and back.

My question is does would an electric thermo correct this? I realize its in the 20°'s but I drove my moms trailblazer the other day and she runs steady at 220°… not sure what is goin on with mine. Also how hard is a core replacement? I've watched some videos on youtube and I don't think I want to go down the road of dealing with taking apart my entire dash and possibly run the risk of putting things back together incorrectly.

sounds like your moms trailblazer is running hot at 220°. it should only be 195° along with yours. i know for a fact that yours should look like its running 200°.
to me it sounds like you both need thermostats.

Yeah sounds like you have a bad tstat that's stuck open. Try replacing it with a 195 and see if that fixes your issue!

Yeah, I agree with the rest. Sounds like a stuck open thermostat. Had the same problem with my blazer. The needle would barely even get above 100*. New 195* 'stat, and all is better!

You can get one at probably any auto parts store. Just ask the employees there. It is a very easy installation. I'm sure you can find on google or this forum on how to do it.

It's a real common part. Stocked at any parts store.

Installation is super easy, as well. All I had to remove was a brace for the belt tensioner and my air ducting. Two bolts, and it's off!
