throttle blade sticking?

on my way from school today my throttle blade got stuck wide open. i killed the truck put it in neutral and restarted her while still rolling. the blade came un-stuck and it keeps doing this. both the throttle cables are good. i pulled on the throttle under the hood with the truck off and the air intake taken off the top of the motor, it sounds like there's some sort of suction every time i open up the throttle. also my truck is running lean on bank 1 and 2, could this be the problem? the truck is a 98 s10 blazer LS 4dr 4wd

The throttle blade/body and plenum need to be cleaned. EGR recirculation causes a buildup of carbon on the intake parts making them sticky.

might also check the throttle camble for dmage/kinks/or binding
and check your floor board for crap that can catch your accelerator... that one is no fun either :icon_no:

i sprayed carb cleaner in there trying to clean it off did nothing. its almost like there a kink in the throttle cable. the pedal and all got stuck down. i had my mechanic look at it and he said he's never seen such a thing. he's thinking its one of the cables or the pivot point in the pedal

you could use gasoline, diesel, seafoam, etc...

i used Carb Cleaner and let it get good and dry before reinstall and running her...

you should spend the extra .86¢ on the gasket with the screen on the intake hole...

also i used something called Sticky Stuff to hold the gasket inplace until i could tighten the valve back on.

When cleaning the EGR is there anything you should know about it before removing? :icon_dunce:

Remove the EGR Valve out nice and easy...to keep any more carbon from falling into the intake. Clean-out the intake passage with carb cleaner or whatever once you remove the EGR and use a new gasket...the one with the screen helps alot but know that the screen will get clogged-up over time requiring you to remove and either clean or replace. Plan on doing this yearly or sooner depending upon your driving.

Oh and do not drop the EGR Valve...this thing is quite expensive.
