Thud when stopping
I am getting a loud "thud" or "thunk" after stopping at low speed. It comes form the rear/center of the truck. Is this a U- or CV- joint issue. Anyone fix the problem themselves. 2000 Blazer LS 4WD 163,000 miles
Thx. |
id look at the u joints, and maybe the front hubs.

+1, check for play in the u joints, hubs and ball joints. U joints are easy, the only problem is if they are stock then they have an internal nylon "clip" that you have to melt out. The new ones have a metal, external clip.

Check pads/rotors?

Rear/center of the unit? U-joints...Any unit over 80-100K should have them replaced any way! Easy job!

Thx. You should check your Torsion bar mounts, at the rear of the bars there is a cross-member that goes across and is attached with a mount/hanger on each end. I hear they can be a pain to change but can cause that noise. |

its its like a thump it might just be the actual axle itself shifting. my 90 fullsize does this usually when you left off the brakes the its kinda springs back to normal position. hard to explain but its kinda normal for a old worn out truck like mine
