Default Trans, Spark plug distributor problems?

Hey everyone, i have a 97 4dr Blazer that im about to give to a friend and i need to fix the few things that are wrong with it. I took it to autozone because of the check engine light and they said i had a misfire in the #4 cylinder. i bout 6 new spark plugs but we may have another problem...the distributor cap i believe is right next to the firewall correct? and my dad seems to think that if it is the cap then i need to replace that as well as the rotary button...
so my question is that IS where the cap is?

The distributor cap is where all of the spark plug wires go to from the individual spark plugs. It is located at the back of the engine a bit closer to the passenger side of the intake manifold right at the firewall.

To perform a complete tune up, I would replace the cap, rotor, the plug wires, and the spark plugs (AC Delco Double Platinum plugs only!). If you have over 100k miles, you may want to consider replacing the oxygen sensors. There are two that affect the operation of the engine and they are the ones closest to the exhaust manifolds on the 'y' pipe at each side of the engine.

I would also recommend some cleaning as preventative maintenance. This would include cleaning the MAF sensor, the EGR valve (you need a new gasket - get the screened version), and the throttle body (including the IAC valve and its bore). All of this is covered in other threads in proper detail. Check out the Tech Article (DIY) section for further details.
