transmission swap. will 93 transmission fit into 95 Blazer
Hey Guys.
I have 1995 Blazer (VIN 1GNTDT13W8S2228468), 4x4 with 4L60E transmission and have 4L60E transmission that came from 93 Blazer 4x4 (VIN 1gnct18w3p0161480, model T18 body style 2dr) . Question: Is it possible to put it in my blazer? 93 transmission doesn't have safety switch. I include a pictures of it (93) here: http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...o/IMG_1960.jpg http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...o/IMG_1961.jpg http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...o/IMG_1962.jpg http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...o/IMG_1963.jpg Here is the picture of 95 transmission: http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...o/IMG_1964.jpg I just want to know if car is going to run and drive. If it's going to be fine, I am going to put it. I have transmission laying on my driveway and car near it with no transmission. Please help me with good advice. Did someone try to do this before? |
RE: transmission swap. will 93 transmission fit into 95 Blazer
There were several changes to the 4L60E starting in 1995. This included the variable lockup feature in the torque converter. The 93 4L60E will not have the PWM TCC control which includes a different valve body, separator plate, pump cover and housing. While the exterior of the two transmissions may be almost identical, they cannot be interchanged without also swapping these components. I must caution you that swapping these components is not a simple thing and severe damage can occur if done improperly.
