Trying to identify coolant leak
 

I own a 2000 Blazer and have been leaking small amounts of coolant after driving. I have inspected the hoses, water pump, and radiator. All of those items do not have indications of leaking. I can see that behind the water pump against the engine block there is fluid seeping out, but I do not know exactly what this part is called. Need advice on what this part is and if it could be the cause of my coolant leak.

Sounds to me like the seal is going bad. Probably time to replace the pump.

Had a leak a couple of years ago that I could not find. Turns out it was the intake gasket. All the intake bolts seemed to have come loose so we tightened them and all was well. Or I thought so, anyway. The truck left me on the side of the road a few weeks later when a section of the gasket blew out and flooded the engine with coolant. It was a lot of fun fixing that mess.

Is it leaking where the water pump bolts to the block, or above the timing cover(near the thermostat housing)? If its where the water pump bolts to the block then your seals are probably bad. Depending on mileage, it might be wise to just replace the pump. If it looks like it is leaking above the pump and timing cover it might be time to replace the lower intake gaskets. Mine actually leaked at the front where there is no gasket and only sealant is used.

I replaced the water pump and that did it. Thanks for the advice.
