Under-body rust gone wild
I've owned my '96 Blazer for half a year now. The truck is clean on the outside and inside with select spots of rust near the wheel wells. The problem is the under-body rust. I replaced the front brake pads with the aid of a friend last month and it took us about a half hour to break each nut. I want to clean the under-body and make it look nice again.
My spare wheel looks like it was cast in rust. I didn't take any photos of the under-body (with good reason) but I do have an exterior photo I took when I first got it. http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/101_0512.jpg |
Get some decent jack stands.... and lift her up and blast all the bad stuff away... and then hit it with some undercoating/paint.... do it proper means only doing it once.... but I had the same thing.... I hit it with some sanding, and then dropped some paint.... looks darn good... especially when you sit it next to someone else's vehicle...

So what kind of tools are required for the job? How do you the protect under-body wiring from tools?
|
Well.... the tools that are must need would be:
jack Jack stands Sand paper/grinder/sander depending on how much rust.... Hose/power washer.... to clean before primer/paint/undercoating Choice of paint/primer/undercoating That should be it |
So what do you undercoat it with and it what order? Do you just use a normal car body primer and paint or is there a special undercoating I can buy at my local parts store? Thanks for all the help.
