Vaccum Supply to vent control

Current situation: Vents stuck in default defrost/floor, with hissing noice when selector is in "floor" mode.

Last night I checked the operation of the vent to floor actuator (Drivers side under dash), this actuator has two vaccum lines....brown and gray I believe. One pulls up the other pulls down, with the default in the middle. I am 90% sure that my problem lies in the supply of vaccum to the Hvac controls, maybe a broken line. I have checked the line to the ball under the hood, looks good and shows good vaccum.

My question is this: Does anyone know the actual routing of the supply line, like where it passes through the firewall? Anyone had similar issues, and what was the fix?

Thanks!

I've got a similar problem with mine. Stuck in vent. Wont blow on the floor or the defrost.
Hopeing to look at it this weekend.

RE: Vaccum Supply to vent control

I just solved this issue.

There is a bank of solenoids behind the ashtray. For me, the solenoids failed.

If your climate control has an “Auto” setting, you also have these solenoids.
The service manual directs you to either the a/c control head unit or the solenoid bank. I was unable to determine which, so I purchased both parts and tested each to determine it was the solenoids.

What is the ball under the hood

swartlkk 05-18-2009 05:52 AM

It is the vacuum reservoir, but you could have asked this in your thread...

Could a problem with that be why my vents are not working right

Could, but that is why you have your other thread on that subject.
