VCM - DTCs & Freeze Frame Data Question

So as not to sidetrack or muddle-up my continuing thread on "the 5 code tranny blues", I thought it best to ask these questions, that may or may not be related to that continuing intermittent problem, here in a separate thread...

1) VCM - Must I first remove the VCM from it's mounting tray before disconnecting any or all of the four connector plugs (C1 - C4) on the back of the VCM? Or should the connectors be easily and safely removed while the VCM is still installed in its tray? Any other tips on removing these four VCM connectors?

2) DTCs and Freeze Frame Data - if an intermittent malfunction causes more than one DTC to be stored (as in the five code tranny blues), it appears that only one DTC code appears in the Freeze Frame data. Can I assume that this DTC code always refers to the first fault detected which then, may or may not initiate additional faults and codes such as when the transmission goes into limp mode?

3) Freeze Frame. Data - if an intermittent fault turns on the SES light, stores codes, and saves freeze frame data and then the fault corrects itself, the SEL light remains lit until a certain number of trouble free starts, trips, or warm-ups occurs. My question is, if the intermittent fault occurs again, before the SES turns itself off, is a new set of freeze frame data then stored replacing the initial fault's freeze frame data, or does the original freeze frame data remain until all codes and data have been cleared?
