Next you will probably lose your power seat functions with moisture goblins under the carpet wires(orange).

I had the same problem and found it to be the A-post trim that was causing the trouble. Repaired and replaced what needed it and no more leak. I had to replace the felt padding as well...

Another place to check is the heat shield by the transmission. If the shield has come lose the rivet is most likely missing leaving a small hole. This is where my water was coming from.

I have a new hobby patching and fine tuning my '96 LT. At the moment, I'm in the middle of finding an open or a short in my power seats. The suspect wiring is under the carpet. Sometimes it falls apart from a driver's nervous foot. But more often the wires corrode from rust due to water leakage, and sometime from snow and salt brought in - thawing and winding up under the carpet and eating away at the wire connections, butts and even insolation.

But enough of that rot. Get it? Rot. Skipit. Anyway, while in the process of peeling my carpet off the floor, I notices a neat little area about 2.5"x3.5" where part of my floor used to be. I plan to either sheet metal, rivit and seal it or fiberglass it shut. That, in addition to all of the other responses, is at least partially the source of my damp carpet problem and resultant wire rot.

I am having the same problem. The windshield seal where the roof meets the windshield has a 3 inch area that has popped up and is no longer attached.

How do you replace the seal without removing the window? Do I just pull up/dig out the old one, put a bead of urethane in the groove and press in a new universal windshield seal?
