Weird running problem --- Help !!!!!

Hey all , We have a 1998 Chevy S10 Blazer 4x4 and we have a weird running problem. Sometimes when we go to drive it we look at the dash and notice that the temp gauge goes towards normal and then the next thing it goes to 0 like it's not even warm yet,and then it goes back up. Then the idling goes to 1,200 rpm's and sometimes it cuts off. It runs kinda weird when it does this. The check engine light comes on also. I took it to Advance Auto and let them check the codes that one time the light was on and they said it was the temp sending unit was showing low voltage I beleave, can't remember. He wiggled the wires back behind the carb where they t off at and he reset the computer and it run fine for about 2 weeks or so. Would this cause all of these problems? Thanks

Sounds like you have a bad wire to the temperature sending unit for the gauges. If wiggling the wiring harness causes the problem to go away, there is a damaged wire in the harness. Crappy part is that it takes dismantling the harness to get to it...

I replaced a thermostat housing in a firebird I used to own the sending unit was right by the housing as soon as I gave the last turn the socket came off the bolt and hit the sending unit cracking the plastic around it. after putting it back together it ran like **** as soon as I touched the sending unit wireing harness it ran fine.
