What transmission to get?

Hi guys.
Look like my transmission is gone.
I have 98, 2 wheel drive, Blazer, auto, 144K miles.
What year and model I need ir to get from?
Thanks an advance.

Your best bet would be another 98 Blazer/Jimmy transmission, or you would want to find the code "8TAD" on the laminated sticker next to the vent tube, or on the underside by where the 2wd transmission mount bosses are. The 96-97, 99-00, and 01-02 Blazer/Jimmy transmissions all have different valve bodies, and separator plates are all different, and in 99 they started to use the deep pan. The 98 was basically a one year only setup for that particular valve body/separator plate setup. You could use safely any 96/98 Blazer/Jimmy transmission. You just want to make sure it has the TAD behind the year (6TAD, 7TAD, 8TAD)

Well, you could i suppose...but then you have to buy a driveshaft. and i think the crossmembers are different.

Buy a trans that will work, shortcuts always end up sucking.
