Default Whining after A/C compressor installed

Hello.

I have a 2002 Chevy Blazer LS V6 4.3. I had a new a/c compressor installed after the clutch burned out on my old one (flush, evac, and recharge done also). I just had it done this weekend but since then I've noticed a whining noise when I am accelerating with the a/c on. It only does it until about 35-40 mph and then can't be heard. It occurs when driving straight so I don't think its with my power steering but need to check it anyways. I also had a new altenator and belt installed this weekend too. Does it sound like the compressor or clutch and is this common with a new one? Should I be worried or will it disapate over time? Thanks for your help!

Andrew

If it only happens when the compressor is running, I would suspect a problem with the compressor or with the front drive belt system on the engine. The load could cause a pulley to whine.

Thank you. Is this something that could turn serious? Any advice?

Ok. To followup I did notice that the whining is occurring when the blazer shifts gears (its an automatic). Is this normal for a new compressor and will it go away? Thanks!

As far as how bad it could get, that really depends on the actual cause of the problem. The compressor shouldn't whine at all.
