Why does my back window squeak?

This is driving me nuts! A very squeaky back window on my 99 blazer. I have lubed the hinges, sprayed the hydrolic shocks at their mounts and treated the weather seal with 303 Protectant with no luck (I thought it was the dry window rubbing on the frame of the hatch).

In addition, If I push the window realease button on the dash and drive around the block the noise is gone, but as soon as I close the window snug to the hatch frame the squeak is there. Can't tell if it's coming from the plastic trim or the window itself.

Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas?

Thanks,
B

Common issue it's actually part of the latching mechanism causing this.. There's a solution on the forum but I'm on my phone...

I fixed this by wrapping electrical tape a few times around the hook. It works.

Seriously? The latch mechanism? So, a bit of electrical tape to keep the two metal pieces from rubbing...ok, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks!

Yep it worked on mine, if you open the glass often the tape will get worn out and you'll have to redo it but it's a cheap fix and stops the noise that makes you want to jump out the window.

I have the same problem, to cure it temorarily I put a short length of plastic pipe, very tight fitting over the location pin, lasts quite a while before wearing out, very cheep to replace. That reminds me must redo it, last piece has lasted six months.

I took a paint brush ...

... and covered the latching mechanism with MBD black grease. Fixed the squeek for about six months and then I just dabbed in some more and I'm good for another six or so.

The tape over the striker is just covering up the symptom, and while it quiets it down-it is just temporary as agreed above. There IS adjustment in the latch assy itself(the part in the tailgate)Took me about 1/2 hour to figure it out a few years ago on my first Blazer.Remember if the glass does not actually seal tightly you may possibly letting monoxide in as well as moisture.

No moisture in mine, where is this adjustment at?

my blazer and a friends does the same thing,, A little trick i heard about was to just slightly open the Passenger side window just a crack and the noise stops instantly!! Welp it worked.. no mo squeak while driving..
