Wont start on an incline...WTF?

Alright, I've got a 95 S-10 with about 114k on it. Starting back in October I started having a hard time starting it. It would take two times, then sometimes four, then a nice round number of ten tries before it would turn over.

So I parked it for a few months...

It got to the point where I knew the starter/cellunoid was going out (makes that God awful sound). So I get to the mechanic, they switch out my starter and its good to go.

Next day, same thing. Take it back, they do my distributor (rotor and cap where worn). Works great.

About a week later, I'm driving it to work, went up a steep incline, and the truck just shuts off....

Get it towed in and it starts right up. Well I mentioned it being parked for a while, and my fuel filter was full of crap. After that, it ran great for about two weeks.

My roommate today drove my truck to work, parked it on an incline, went to leave and it wouldn't start....yet he pushed it to level ground and it fired right up....

My mechanics are good friends, and have checked literally every single thing, including the fuel pump...

Anyone have ANY idea what would make a car not start on an incline then start immediately when pushed to level ground?

im thinking it is a fuel problem cause if i leave mine on a incline it will stall but only front end down

They've checked the fuel pump twice, especially after droppin' the tank and replacing the fuel filter.

Loose connection somewhere in the ignition system? With all that work done up there something may have been knocked..I'm not sure though just speculating

i have had the same problem with my blazer. always ended up being a front end incline with less then a 1/4 tank of gas. So I just keep it over a 1/4 tank at all time.

There has to be something that causes that....

Yea...the intake for the gas is in the back/center of the tank, so when you have less than 1/4 and youre on an incline, gas can't reach the intake.

However I thought that problematic combination was done away with in newer vehicles (I had that issue on my '87 pontiac).

It almost sounds like the float pick up in the tank is facing the wrong way, instead of front to back its going side to side.. I only say that because i know someone with an s-10 p/u and he installed the tank after replacing the pump and found he installed it back in wrong... Just a thought....I have never had to do one so i cant say for sure if that could be it.....
