OK. Just in case anyone else is wondering about this....

The secret here is to slide the cover down far enough to expose the lip that's captured under the steering wheel. Once the cover is slid down far enough, the bottom half will rotate down to release the locking tabs at the bottom.

Whenever I call and ask for an ignition switch they say there is a left and right one. Any idea what's up with that?

Default Still a relevant thread

after 10 or so years.
I just used this guide to replace the ignition switch on my daughter’s ‘97 Bravada and couldn’t have done it without this post.
Many thanks to all who went before me.
