2000 Blazer Stock CD Player Replacement
Looking to replace my stock CD Player with another stock one.
Does the new one have to be re programmed for security or is it just a straight swap?
Read a few different things. 03 and newer reprogrammed anything old should be plug and play?

99% sure that anything 98+ is VIN locked, meaning it'll have to be relearned to the vehicle it's put into via a dealership with a Tech2 interface.
I too would suggest just going with a cheap aftermarket unit... Check local pawn shops, auto salvage yards, or even Facebook marketplace. It's easy to find half decent second hand Pioneer single dins, then just buy an install kit from anywhere (bracket and harness), and install. You might even be lucky enough to find one out of another GM with the brackets and harness already assembled, since the radio form factor and wiring pinout was used on a ton of vehicles and are directly swappable, then even the aftermarket radio would be a plug and play! You'll end up with better sound than factory, possibly even extra features depending on what radio you end up with (AUX in, bluetooth, etc).

Thought it would be less of a hassle to find the same one and swap.
Any recommendations for decks? Need one that has 6 speaker output

I replaced my CD player with a Boss BVCP9685A touch screen unit. Have it hooked up to my stock speakers (sounds fine, but im also not an audiophile), a USB-C cable to for my phone to charge and use Android Auto (also has Apple Car Play), and another USB cable going to a 4GB thumb drive that I have about 1200 songs on, and my backup camera. I don't think I could go back to a regular CD player now despite having my old CD book in my back seat.
I wanted to modernize the system a little bit, and seeing how everything today comes with a big screen in it, that's sort of the direction I wanted to go.
I settled on a Pumpkin brand Android unit. No CD player in this one as I don't use CD's, although there's plenty of similar units that do have CD slots. But it does everything I want it to and more. Bluetooth audio connection, GPS navigation, etc. Plus it runs Android operating system like a phone, so any app that runs on an Android phone can be installed and ran on it, therefor I primarily use Spotify for all of my music listening. It connects to my home wifi when I get home or start the truck up to leave, and all of my apps and music playlists automatically update.
UPDATE
So shortly after this post I thought I would take my chances on getting a new stock deck and either remove the EPROM or hope for the best
Found a 2001 Jimmy that had the exact same deck (different part numbers and manufacturing dates) $10 from the auto wrecker.
Plugged it in no error message or warning message.
Been using it for the last couple weeks and it's working perfect

I thought about a new thread, but since this one was so recent, figured I'd try here first.
My silly wife blew the speakers on the stock 2001 S-10 stero listening to rap music...so now I can't hear anything, plus the CD player stopped functioning. All I can get is 2 AM radio stations from where I live in BFE Northern Montana. (Love where I live, hate the radio selection!) So here are my questions:
A: So I read that '01 Blazer corner dash speakers are 4x6, front door speakers are 6-3/4, and the rear door are 6-1/2. Was hoping someone could confirm this.
B: The next question is if there is a nice kit to just replace all of these at once? Or what you may have done. Only the front driver-side door speaker plays, so it's bad right now.
C: Since I live in BFE Montana, I was thinking of replacing the radio with a Sirius. There is no cell service for much of where we drive, so nothing streaming really works. (Unless we could download and then play like with Bluetooth or save to a drive.) Finally, maybe I could try to clean the CD player with a cleaning disc to get it working again and join the early 2000's with CD's burned from my computer - or even just get a new one from the junkyard. I'm sure they have a ton.
D: Or...I could get an aftermarket Sirius unit to jack into the broken CD player unit I have. (The radio still works.) I'm worried if I wire in new speakers, there is something wrong with the stereo, since only speaker works. I don't think my silly wife could have destroyed them all at once.
All I want is to hear modern music with a decent volume in my wonderful outdoor adventure 2001 Blazer again. So, I think I need to buy speakers, (Do I, and what kind?)
And what should I do for a radio/deck. I can't be the only one who just had the entire sound system cut out at once. I value all of you people's opinions on fixing my truck, now it's time for making it more enjoyable!
Thanks so much for any ideas.
Let me know if this should be posted somewhere else...

Price wise it didn't make sense for me to go aftermarket.
Depends on local prices at the wrecker but speakers and stock decks are very cheap at mine.

$129
It does EVERYTHING audio except play CDs. Bluetooth Phone and Streams Music by Bluetooth from phone, 2 x USB - reads MP3, WAV, WMA, ACC, FLAC, etc. Fits without cutting any factory radio mounting panels out of the dash (a very shallow receiver). 6 pre-outs but also has built in amp. Will automatically sets itself up for speaker type, size, and location including subs (really amazing). I have a 32 GB flash drive with MP3s on the Rear USB input laying inside of the glove box. Alphabetical selection by Artist and then Album is easy. I have never missed carrying and loading a CD. One word of advice - get a good quality USB drive, not a cheapie. This would be a modest upgrade in sound with a heckuvalot of added features.
If you need to have a CD player, then get the KDC-X704 (same exact thing with CD player), but you will have to cut dash (internal) to install because of the increased depth. This would also be a modest upgrade in sound with a heckuvalot of added features - but adding CD.

$149.99
Only thing bad about these Kenwood Receivers is they have so many features, sometimes it is difficult to navigate it all.
Best idea is to draw a flow-chart to map it all out - just in case you can't remember at the moment. Manuals don't do them justice.
They give you (free) their cheaper install packages, so you can avoid cutting any of the factory wiring and can mount it in the 1.5xDIN hole. The more expensive package ($35) only adds steering wheel controls (if you have them).
For speakers you could go with the following inexpensive ones: 6.5 front, 5.25 rear. Would sound better than factory, using the in-receiver amp.

$39.99/pair
I wouldn't jack with the dash speakers if they are tweeters (and I bet they are). I only replaced mine using a different tweeter because I went with Focal component speakers, a 5-channel amp, and a Bazooka sub.
If you want SiriusXM, the tuner add-on for this system is $79.
So total cost for everything through Crutchfield, SiriusXM and all (no CD) would be $290
