i have a 2007 trailblazer with the Bose system, and onstar. I have replaced my HU with a FH-P8000BT and now have decided i want to get rid of the crappy Bose amplifier and replace it with a kicker zx200.4 amplifier, and replace all 4 speakers (6 with tweeters included). The trouble with the whole ordeal is the retention of onstar, as i would prefer to keep it operational for resale purposes. So, what I'm wondering is if I go to the amp and use the input wires for a high level input for the amp, if i will retain onstar.
also, if that will indeed work, i would like to know the location of the amp and what the color code for the wires is. thank you very much for any help. |
I think you need something like this. GM Factory Integration Adapter General Motors Class II data bus interface — retains OnStar system, factory door chime, and Bose system with aftermarket radio at Crutchfield.com. I'm not sure if that's the exact one you need, but definitely something like it.

had to install that(one like it) in the first place when i changed out the radio. is that what runs onstar through the speakers or is it the amp?

After looking at the amp wiring for your truck, it appears as though all of the audio signals come through the radio to the amp. The inputs to the amp consist of the speaker +/- wires for the LF/RF/LR/RR channels, a radio on signal, mute signal, and, if you have rear seat audio, a rear seat audio enabled signal. The LF/RF/LR/RR inputs to the amp are low level inputs.
If your Onstar works now, I believe it should work after replacing the factory bose system with your aftermarket components/amp. The rear seat audio option has the rear speaker wires running to the control panel at the back of the center console so if you all out rewire things, the rear seat audio won't function anymore. It may not function with an aftermarket radio anyway. |
that's good to hear, do u know where the amp is located before i start ripping things apart?
|
I think it's behind the passenger rear quarter trim. That's where it was in my old '04 Rainier.
Do you have rear seat audio? If so, it likely doesn't work with aftermarket radio as it is now. I'd just rewire the whole system, leaving the factory wiring and box up the factory bose equipment for the next owner. |
ok, thanks. hopefully everything works out this bose ordeal has been costly and aggravating enough as is
|
only rear audio i have is the 5 1/4 in the doors. I may just rewire the whole thing but i'll decide on that when i get to the amp. all my speakers work currently.
