For any fellow 96'ers or similar, all you have to do is tear all the plastic behind the head unit out. I suggest something with the same dimensions as an avic f700BT. That's what I used.
It lets you keep the little pocket underneath, and only leaves a couple of inches on each side, assuming you center it. Otherwise, you CAN let it stick out a couple inches, but I didn't want that. There is a couple thin lines of plastic you need to snap off. http://s3.postimage.org/bdxxb090/DSCN7985.jpg After: http://s3.postimage.org/bdzkucqs/DSCN8423.jpg |

I may just try the pre 98 models on the weekend. There seems to be alot of people with these models looking to add double din. I think mine only fits 98-04

For the 96 and such you still have to gut the back of the head unit, and most people won't be able to do that safely.

I used plumber's tape for the brackets. I soldered and shrink tubed my wires for a clean harness. I bought the wire kit and antenna adapter from best buy for about $20. I also had to cut the hard plastic bracket that holds up the back of the factory radio with a hack saw (not enough room to get my sawzall in there) and had to trim the plastic behind the bezel with a bar file until the radio fit in its place. I put the toggle switch I use for the screen (in place of the E-brake switch) in the bezel next to the radio. this was a mistake and I wish I would have put it somewhere else. My bezel is charcoal gray almost black, matches the center of my steering wheel but I may paint it tan to match my interior.
for those thinking of a Blutooth pioneer (like what I got) I put the mic up next to the mic for the onstar. |
No that is sexy. I think blazers are small as it is and dont want to purchase a pop up LCD because im a big dude in a small truck so i needs my room i didnt ever think about a double din. very Sexy

digging up the oldie.. what is a double din? Is that an all-in-one type thing that has tv/dvd/cd/mp3/radio/espresso maker?

DIN stands for Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. which, in English, means the German Institute for Standardization. a single din is 2.11" tall and a double din is 4.22" tall
