alpine question

hey guys hows it goin? had a couple questions figured you guys could help me out. i know a little about systems i know how to install everything its just the breaking down the "science" of it with the ohms and sub/amp matching. im lookin for a system no competition status but something that will hit pretty hard and sound good but not to hard. i have a chance to get an alpine type r 12" sub and an alpine v12 amp with it for about 300 bucks total. how hard should it hit? would it be worth it? your opinions??? thanks guys

RE: alpine question

R's can get loud. it all really depends on the install.

I know a guy hitting 151 on 1 type R.

If you do a BIG ported box tuned fairly high you should get good results.

we're lookin at 2+ cu ft for the woofer. How much power is the amp putting out? R's really start to shine after about 600 watts from what I've seen

RE: alpine question

**** drop that to 2 ohms.

700 watts to the R will do nicely.

RE: alpine question

how do i drop it to 2 ohms? i know im a noob at this. i also have two infinity 6800cs component sets(four mids, four tweeters, four crossovers) i was thinkin about putting in when i do this. the mids are 5x7's though. would these be good goin with this set up? what would be a good amp for my components? im going to be making my own door panels when i re do my interior thats why i didnt really care about the 5x7's but id rather have 6 1/2's for the set up.heres the specs on the component sets.

* Size: 5 x 7
* Sensitivity: 92 dB
* Frequency Response: 49-21,000 Hz
* Recommended RMS Power: 90W
* Peak Power Handling: 270W
* Impedance: 4 ohms

any 4 channel with a decent name company will do.

RE: alpine question

I have two 04' R's on 550 watts and they slam and sound great. rattles my windows, and i can jump a penny at least 2"s on my roof. V12 amps sound great too, hits every note.

RE: alpine question
