Default Alternator search

So. I'm not sure what our alternators hold amperage wise, but I am working in building my system in my 03 blazer, it's an American bass XFL 12", the new model which is 3000w max 1500rms. Beautiful speaker for the price. Powered by and audiopipe 2000w amp which at 2 ohms actually puts out 1414w which is perfect. But. I have major voltage drop. Looking to see if anyone knows any GOOD reputable sites to buy a direct fit high output alternator. I found one but I'm not sure I trust the site but it's a 250amp alternator the holds 14.8 volts. Just wanted to see if anyone else knows of a good trustworthy site I can look. I appreciate it!

edit: this is the link for the one I found. It's not a terrible price for the performance but it is a terrible price if it's a hoax https://www.phoenix-alternator.com/MPartDetails.aspx?IDNUM=118515&SRC=GB

Do a search on the ad244 alternator swap. They can be found very cheap, are a direct bolt in and when paired with a big 3 upgrade and a good battery will be plenty sufficient for your setup.

A big 3 upgrade? And when you say direct bolt up, I can run a factory serpentine belt with it?? Is the swap on YouTube or something on this forum?

You can find a ton of info by searching both "big 3" and "ad244" on the forum here. It's been a long time but I believe you need a slighty longer belt of which you will find the proper PN with your search. The big 3 is upgrading to larger power and ground wires in addition to the factory wires.

I have attached the results of my research on the compatible GM alternator with the largest maximum amperage. In short it is a 145 Amp one GM pn 19244751, RPO KG3 used the larger GM trucks; e.g. 2005 Silverado.

Here is a link to the "Big Three Upgrade." https://blazerforum.com/forum/articl...upgrade-97077/

I agree with what you posted on the KG3 option Christine, excellent upgrade for the alternator, it uses the stock connector but it does require the use of a alternator belt that is 1 inch longer than stock at least that was the case with mine.

As far as the AD244 I'm under the impression that it uses a 2 prong connector which is different than the Blazer connector and was electronically controlled. It will put out approximately 14.0 volts in default mode and does bolt up to the stock bracket but I don't think the amperage goes up with rpm unless it's used with the associated electronics.

so the ad244 alternator will bolt right up to a 04 blazer stock. no issues. no plug modifications. and will i need a 1 inch longer belt if so.... so far all the threads do not list a belt part number being used. i know all vehicles are different. but a general number would be awesome. i can get a new AD244 alternator off rockauto.com for like 90 bucks plus shipping. but thats if it will work with no problems.

My AD244 came off a Yukon Denali if memory serves me right. Physically it was a direct bolt on and plug in, but I believe I used a 1/2 longer belt, but don't hold me to that as it was some time ago...

Along with upgrading the charge wire and grounds, it has never given me issues, running a 2400 watt system through 0 gauge to the rear, a winch, and 2 LED light bars.
