ik its pioneer but its the champion series, so makes me wonder what kind of power it can really do.

may I recommend you take a look at the ct sounds amps. They have a 900, 1200, and 1400 all of which are rated at 12.8v so the 900 is comparable to the 1200ish watt amps you were looking at. The reason I would buy an amp from ct is there no questions asked 1yr warranty. Amps die quite often and a solid warranty that doesn't take years and doesn't require a million emails to convince the company it wasn't your fault is money well spent. This amp will outperform most amps you posted.

If you want something you dont see much at all I can sell you a Shok Industries 1k. It puts out about 1200w. $495 shipped

Trying to keep it around $200 maybe a little more. In all honesty the SQ1200 (soundqubed) and the Rockford r1200... I bought 2 sq hds212 d4 on black Friday. They're for my grand prix. IK Rockford is good but idk if there prime amps are?

hold on, you think ct sounds is mainstream in comparison to the sq1200? I don't care about mainstream vs not, but I would definitely say sq^3 is way bigger than ct. I would also recommend the sq1200 as well though. I have run a lot of their products and have two hdc3s in the blaze right now actually.

As I've mentioned before, in that price range, as long as it's from a reputable company you're just not going to see a real difference between any of them. The majority of them are all being built in the same buildhouses in Korea and China (mostly China) and the majority of them are using the same quality of parts. There's quite a few out there that share the same boards, etc. so there's not really any difference in those at all.

If you can swing a few extra more than the $200 then the Soundqubed, CT Sounds, Rockford, etc. should have just a small edge over the others you listed. If you just can't go over $200 the RE Audio, Hifonics and I'll add the PPI BK1300 are all great budget options for the price.

Have you considered buying used at all? You just might be able to find a Sundown 1k or 1200 from someone used for right about $200. Going used opens up the playing field on what you're able to get for your budget compared to new. Call up or email Sundown themselves and see what they have lying around. I got my SAZ-1500D used for $350 direct from Jacob and my used 125.2 for $150 (I think). If they've got a used 1k or 1200 I'm sure they could get you pretty close to $200 and that would be an uber solid amp to go with.


Don't over think it. For what you're doing it's not going to make an audible difference from one to the next as long as it's a decent brand.

i narrowed it down to the Rockford and the Soundqubed, but I might just contact SA to see, they are in the same state as me after all :P

Steve meade bench tested the hifonics brutus. 1700.1 and it made over the rated power. Just putting that out there, hifonics makes good amps for the money.
