Default Amp help!

I have a 1600 watt, 2 channel amp.....and i have 4 subs now.....is it possible to run 2 subs on one channel? So total 4 subs on that one amp? Would that be safe or would I need another amp?

U can wire it and it will work, just make sure you are using proper gauge cable and a proper fuse. I would also invest in a serous capacitor or you will smoke your alternator. Why you would want 4 amps is beyond me but it is doable

Well, it would help to know what amp you're running along with what subs. is your amp stable at 2 ohms stereo? are your subs 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 2 ohm, DVC, SVC?? not trying to be an a** but its easier to help when we have all the information

Wow. I actually read it. Rolled over it a few times but the Bruins had a good lead so I thought I'd read it lol. I think I'm gonna take it easy on my system for a bit untill I have cash for a kenetix batt and better alt.

Yeah really, Crutchfield and 12volt.com have wiring diagrams but like you waiting on the OP to respond... Caps... please get a HO alt or don't do car audio. Caps are like using tylenal on cancer and extra batteries will strain your factory alt also. The only real reason for a cap is if it's a show car and you want another light and a volt meter, thats it. Should be gettin my amp tomarrow. I swear I have a for a brain. lol.

Alright, Unless you have some weird subs like JL, your either 2 ohm or four ohm VC. And most subs are dual voice coils. So I'm gonna guess dual 4, slight chance dual 2.

If dual 2 ohm, make sure your amp is 2ohm stereo stable.

If dual 4 ohm, make sure your amp is 4ohm stereo stable.

If none of the above helps, give us some more info! ha ha...

Well I figure most subs are dvc. And since he has four subs. There's a chance they are 2ohm but more than likely are 4ohm. Most 2 channels amps are 4ohm stable bridged and 2ohm stable stereo. So I just threw out there the two most common scenarios of what I felt he would have. Car audio is my passion so yeah, I think about stuff like this alot. lol!
