amp wiring
 

i just bought a RF Punch 800a2 and im running 2 alpine type r's (2 ohm each), whats the best way to wire them? ive got in run now so that both positives are connected to the positive of 1 channel and both negatives are connected to the negative of the same. hits really hard, just wondering if there was a better way to do it and what should i have the crossover switch on? HP, FULL, or LP its on full now. and subs are dvc

so theres two inputs on the sub? best bet is to run a two channel amp to them, or to bridge the subs inside the box to run from one input. crossover should be on LP (your low pass filter) so you don't get an highs from those type r's. If you installed the subs into the box yourself, you might want to make sure that you have wired the subs down to 2 ohms also, sometimes they don't come wired.

yeah the amp is a 2 channel. but when i put on the LP it doesnt sound as good, but i might not have listened to it enough to really tell. still sounds really good though, just wondering if i could make it louder, didnt know if i was getting the full 800 watts out of it

to be honest your probably never going to get the full power the amp is rated for, i use to know the formula but i forgot it, the way an amp works is i think if you have a constant like 14.4volts you will get clost to what the peak is unless you bridge it, but when using it in a car its a 12.6 "i belive" volts unless you have a class D mono amp which is made just for subs, my amp is a 400watt class D and it gets 400x1 at 4ohms and 600x1 at 2ohms, altho thats just my 2 cents please feel free to correct me, i will probably need it :) lol
