but true SUV's are trucks (full frame under it).

Seriously, I have considered looking at options for mounting a sub either under the "bed" or in the tailgate. I have one week to decide.

Go for some shallow mount subs in the tail gait (what vehicle do you have exactly?)

There is about 4 inches of room I would say between the exterior and the interior end to end on the tail gate thing.

They will stick out a little bit, but it should really help your cargo room.

I doubt they will sound good at all though.

Go for sealed as they will require less room for the box

you can actually mold in subs into a tail gate and have them sound really good. if you remove the inner skin, you open up to a lot of space behind it. the only problem you'll have is trying to seal up the leaks. i would love to try this but don't have the money to throw at it

i like the conventional sub box (ported and not a bandpass for me please) then, just tint the windows in the back, blacker than black type of black. if you have a 2 door you might as well paint them black anyway because you cant even see out of them when they arent tinted!

i've looked into doing this on a 1st gen.

ideally, you need to cut out the inner skin and build boxes to mount in the TG. since you have all of the latch rods & window solinoid in there, you need to make them shallow enough so they won't interfere with anything.

and seriously, if you're gonna do such a custom install, why would you cover it back up with the stock interior panel.
