Can you replace a stock rear 9.5 ohm speaker with a 4 ohm speaker?

Hi,
Working with a 2000 Blazer LT with completely stock stereo equipment (AM/FM/Cassette). I am looking to replace the rear speakers which are 9.5 ohms each.

I have read that an 8 ohm replacement would be fine, but since 4 ohm speakers are much easier to find aftermarket, I was wondering if it would be safe to replace these 9.5 ohm speakers with 4 ohm aftermarket ones while still using the stock head unit.

Thanks

I've wondered this myself. I've read where people have said it will burn up the radio, and others say it will be fine. I wouldn't mind hearing a good explanation

From what I hear it should handle 4 ohms just fine but if you are worried either get a new deck or use some 8 ohm speakers.
